The Truths and Lies of the iPhone 7

The+Truths+and+Lies+of+the+iPhone+7

There is no doubt in my mind that every last person reading this has at least heard of the iPhone 7. Perhaps you know exactly how you feel about it, or maybe you don’t really know what to think because you haven’t heard much about it. No matter what you may or may not know, I’m here to help you figure out what’s true and what’s not when it comes to the iPhone 7. (I mean, I talked with an Apple employee about it… doesn’t that make me an expert?)

  1. You have to use the new Apple AirPods* with the iPhone 7, or go through a third-party seller to get the right adapter. – LIE!

You DO NOT have to use the Apple AirPods with the new iPhone 7! When you buy the phone, there is an Apple adapter already inside the box that you can use to connect your current headphones to your phone. You simply plug one end of this adapter into the charging port, plug your headphones into the other end, and you’re good to go! The employees at Apple will stress the fact that the new AirPods are much better than your current headphones, but they are also aware of the fact that many are apprehensive and would rather keep their headphones the way they are. (I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure I would lose the new AirPods after twenty minutes).

*Apple AirPods are wireless headphones that connect to your phone via bluetooth.

  1. The iPhone 7 is water-resistant. – TRUTH!

The latest addition to the iPhone family is indeed water-resistant, and that is the reasoning behind removing the audio jack. Many are under the impression that they removed it simply to make the phone thinner, but that isn’t the case. Apple has been trying to make their phones water-resistant for a while now, but they couldn’t do it without severely elevating the price. When interviewing Brandon from the Apple store, he told me, “Making the phone water-resistant and keeping the audio jack would have made the phone way too expensive. So we had to sacrifice our friend [the audio jack] in order to bring in the water-resistant technology, but we did come up with the solution by having those adapters in the boxes”. So, if you drop your iPhone 7 in your fishtank because you’re ChapSnatting pictures of your goldfish, never fear! Water-resistant technology has your back.

  1. The iPhone 7 has two cameras, but there’s no point to it. – LIE!

Let me clarify – yes, the iPhone 7 has two cameras, but there is a point! The second camera helps you take photos at a much higher resolution. For all you non-technical people, that means your photos will look much better, and they won’t look fuzzy and weird. You can also zoom in much more than you could before while keeping that good quality, so be ready for all the up-close-and-personal face memes coming your way. The second camera also helps take much better photos at nighttime. Want to post a picture of the moon outside your window to your hipster Instagram? The iPhone 7 has the best technology to help you do just that.

  1. The storage capacity has changed for the iPhone 7 – TRUTH!

Yes, the storage capacity has changed drastically since the iPhone 6. All of the storage has doubled, so say goodbye to 16GB phones. The least amount of storage you can get on an iPhone 7 is 32GB, which is more than enough for many people. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the highest amount of storage you can get is 256GB, which should be enough even for the person who never deletes anything…even if it’s a picture of the homework on Mrs. Carlson’s whiteboard from two years ago.
