Ask Bunky: Prom Edition

Ask Bunky: Prom Edition

This week I have chosen a few letters to combine on the topic of…wait for it…you know it’s coming…prom.

Love, Bunky xoxo

Bunky,

Prom is coming up and I need a date. I want to ask a girl but I’m just too shy, what should I do?

Hi Bunky,

I’m a girl thinking of asking a guy to prom. Is that weird..?

Dear Bunky,

This year I’m just not feeling going with a date to prom, is this a bad idea?

Dear friends,

It’s prom season, and we have a lot to talk about here. Everyone is feeling the stresses of prom this time of year, my mailbox has just been overflowing with letters from KHS students worried about the fast approaching date of May 9th, and understandably so. The dress, the tux, the flowers, the parties… these are all a lot of things to have to think about when the point of prom is to have fun. So stop stressing. Chances are there are a lot of people feeling the exact same way. If you’re feeling a bit too shy to ask the girl of your dreams to be your date, just go with your gut and do it anyway. What’s the worst that can happen? (The worst that could happen is she could say no, but let’s just not go there). Do something fun that shows you care, girls love that stuff. A lot of guys try to over complicate their promposals, but just do something personal! Take her to the beach and write it in the sand (personal favorite) or give her flowers, whatever you do she will love that you took the time to think of a fun way to ask. Next, who says the guy always has to ask the girl? I love when KHS gets creative and changes things up. After all, I’ve been here for a really, really long time. There is nothing wrong with the ladies turning the tables and surprising a guy with a prom invite. So don’t feel weird, I’m sure he’ll be glad you asked! To my strong independent woman who is just not feeling like going with a date, there is absolutely nothing wrong with going stag. (That means dateless, for those of you who don’t know) I support a girl who wants to go tear it up on the dance floor with her girlfriends. You go Glen Coco! Whoever you’re asking (or not asking) remember that the purpose of prom is to have fun with not only your date, but your friends, too. It’s a chance to get dressed up, let your parents guak at you for an hour at the beach, and dance somewhere a bit classier than the KHS gym. You only have a few proms in your lifetime, so let go of your prom worries and enjoy it!
