All of my friends are saying that Halloween isn’t cool and they’re just staying home. I want to do something, but  I know  that there aren’t many parties and I’m getting too old for trick-or-treating. What’s something fun my friends and I can do on Halloween?

Dear Spooky Sophomore,

Halloween is a good time to have fun with your friends! Maybe you could get together with your friends and throw a Halloween Party with Halloween-themed treats and music. You can also have a Halloween/scary movie night and watch Hocus Pocus or The Woman in Black, or have a pumpkin carving party and compete for the best pumpkin.

If you still want to dress up, you could get a costume together and hand out candy to local kids. If you or a friend can drive, you could go see the Halloween decorations at people’s houses on Summer Street and at River Locks, or go to a haunted house or hayride (check out http://www.hauntworld.com/maine_haunted_houses for places to go in Maine!).
