Teacher of the Week – Mr. Moody

This week, Patrick Moody has agreed to answer a few questions about himself. Moody is a math teacher at KHS, who teaches Algebra 1, Advanced Math, and IB Math. Mr. Moody went to Wells High School. His first job was picking vegetables at Pine Tree Gardens farm in Wells, Maine. Moody went to college at USM and graduated with a Math degree, as well as a minor in History. When asked what his favorite thing was about KHS, Moody said, “The kids here are great kids, and I think they work hard for the most part. They give the teachers respect and I think the teachers promote the same attitude.” Mr. Moody also coaches varsity golf at KHS, and is currently a volunteer basketball coach for the girls at Wells High School. Also, he coached boys varsity basketball at KHS for 14 years. He explained that what he loved about coaching is that it develops a different and stronger connection with the students than in the classroom. He also likes the competition of the high school sports. Moody also explained that if he had to choose one subject that is his favorite to teach, it would be Advanced Math because he has been teaching it for so long. He went on to say, “However, it isn’t always about the subject of the class, but the kids that are in each class, and most of them are very fun.”
