Teacher of the Week: Señora Grady

Screenshot 2014-11-24 at 11.43.13 AMThe new teacher of the week is Señora Grady!  She’s a well-loved Spanish teacher at KHS, who has been teaching for 25 years.  We had the chance to learn more about Señora, and want to share what a C-U-T-E person she is!

Señora grew up in a house of fourteen just outside of Boston. She has seven sisters and four brothers. She spent her summers on an island, which is why she loves the ocean. Now, she has two of her own sons ages 26 and 25. For Thanksgiving, Señora’s family always travels. This is because she can’t cook, so she finds new places with good food to celebrate the holiday.

Señora loves to teach all levels of Spanish as long as her students are interested. If she notices a lack of interest, she makes it her goal to engage them in her classroom.  Although she loves all levels, if she had to choose her favorite would be Spanish 3 CP. She enjoys working with the juniors and seniors. Her inspiration for becoming a teacher was from her experience in school. Her high school teachers and college friends from Spanish speaking countries influenced her decision on becoming a foreign language teacher.  Señora went to Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts for undergrad and then went on to graduate school to get her master’s degree at St. Joseph’s College.

When asked about her favorite hobbies, Señora mentioned shopping. She remarked, “For me, it’s a sport!” Her favorite places to shop are any store that carries Lilly Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines.  Her favorite color of all time is PINK.  She likes to travel, and she’s been to six different Spanish speaking countries!  Señora also told us that she loves doing yoga, going to the movies, or sitting down at a coffee shop. She loves coffee! (Hint hint… the next time you go to Dunks, be sure to pick something up for her.)

Our interview with Señora just confirmed what a wonderful teacher and person she is. If you don’t know her, OH MY LOVIN! What are you waiting for?!  Go stop by her room in the portables and introduce yourself!
