The Ocean Floor
Lay with me on the ocean floor,
And know that there is no pain
Creeping into your lungs or your eyes.
Just lay with me
And feel, too, that there is nothing harsh nor vivid.
There is only us, alone,
With movements that are no longer a race.
Feel the motion with no direction.
Lay with me, and see.
See that the world above us is nothing.
Nothing but the sun’s rays,
Envious.
Reaching.
Desperate for the silent world
We have founded for ourselves.
Aching for the peace we’ve gained
On the ocean floor.
