How to Get a Prom Date

As you may know, spring is finally here, and the only thing that is remotely important about this time of year is prom. The famous event, taking place on the 10th of May, is an adaption of the word promotion, for it is a time to elevate the suave and dapper looks and actions of a high school’s students. Out of all the dances at Kennebunk High School, the prom is by far the most talked about. It can be a time for maturity, fun, and maybe even a little stress.

I say this because, in the five or six months before the dance, all everyone can think of is who they will ask to go with them. Traditionally, the male must ask the female. This still is highly prevalent at Kennebunk and as a result, the man usually poses the (slightly) big question. While a boy can simply go up to the girl; it is often expected that he comes up with some big, imaginative, and original way to ask her. I for one, know that creativity is just plain difficult, so here is a fool proof plan to scoring that crush of yours.

First, spend a little time talking to that special girl. Find out all of her talents, interests, and voice tone. Take a minute, and decide whether you could spend an entire three and a half hours with her. Second, see if she has already picked out a dress. Is it a nice one? Third, figure out her schedule, and possible openings along the way that you could use to execute your plan. This can be accomplished by asking her friends and family members. Do not ask her, this is important. Fourth, start coming up with the big idea. It has to be personal to her, and some embarrassment is also necessary. The more the better really.

Here are some invite ideas to get you started!

– Sticky notes

– Hot air balloon

– Painted doves

– Tiled mosaic

– Motivational poster

– Movie advertisement

– Ballad sung by Principal Cressey

Fifth, pose the question, I am sure whatever you do you will only mess up a little bit. If you can cry, that almost always helps. “Last year, I rocked a little in the fetal position. It was super helpful!” says one popular senior. If she says yes, you can move on to the last step that really seals the deal. Give the girl your phone number, and then proceed to be as awkward as possible. For example, run away from her when you see in the hall. Text her at odd hours of the night. Avoid eye contact.

If you follow these six simple steps, you are well on your way to having the best night ever!
