5 Things to do Over February Break
While many will be traveling out of the state and country this February break, the rest of us are left to sit around and live vicariously through the pictures on Instagram and Facebook. The good news is you don’t have to spend your week wishing you were somewhere else. Believe it or not, there’s plenty for you to do around here. Here are five things you can do over February break:
- Tubing
Seacoast Adventure in Windham has been a popular place for people of all ages to go tubing in recent years. Get a group of friends together and go for the day (or for as long as you can stand the cold weather). More information can be found at www.seacoastadventure.com.
- Get away for a day
Just because you don’t have any big plans to leave town over vacation doesn’t mean you have to stay here the entire week. Take a day with your friends or family and head up to Portland, down to Portsmouth, or even Boston for the day. Each of these cities have something different to offer and you’re bound to find something fun to do to break up the week.
- Ice skating
If you’re looking for something a little more simple and laid back, ice skating is a great activity! Waterhouse in downtown Kennebunk is the perfect place to get outside and spend an hour or two.
- Cross country skiing
Harris Farm offers cross country skiing and snowshoeing everyday from 9-6! It’s great way to get out and enjoy nature while getting exercise. More information including trail conditions can be found on their website at www.harrisfarm.com
- Support winter sports teams
Despite it being February break, there are plenty of sporting events going on throughout the week. The boys and girls basketball teams are both playing in quarterfinals at the Portland Expo Center. The boys take on Greely tonight (2/17) at 8:00 and the girls will be playing Brunswick on Monday (2/20) at 2:30. Boys ice hockey also has big games coming up over the week, starting with Cape on Saturday (Troubh ice arena at 8pm) and they have senior night on Monday (2/20) at UNE at 8:15. If you don’t have anything else to do, make sure to come out and show your support for your home team!
