Kennebunk Basketball Makes the Playoffs

This year has surely been a breakthrough for Kennebunk basketball. For the first time in ten years, the girls team will be in the playoffs, placing seventh. Their first playoff game is February 21st at the Portland Expo. They will be facing Brunswick, the second place team. Senior captains Madi Lux, Gabby Fogg and Sierra Tarte have led the team this year. Gabby Fogg says the team is ¨really excited because it has not been done in a while and especially the seniors have had a tough four years that have paid off.¨ As for strategy, Fogg says their ¨defense has always been strong and can give teams a hard time.¨ Senior, Marran Oakman, states, ¨all of the coaches are really proud of us and are excited for us to play our first game in the expo.¨ Along with Gabby, she says they have ¨worked for four years to get here.¨ Oakman also says their ¨defense is something that keeps us in games. We have been working on our offense though, and it has improved a lot.” The seniors and the rest of the team have come very far, and look forward to the first girls basketball game in the playoffs since the 2006-2007 season.

As for the boys, they made playoffs last year, but fell short of continuing after the preliminary game. This year, are seated eighth in the tournament. They will be playing Greely, the undefeated first place team, at the Portland Expo February 17th. Captains Dakota Ewy and Jack Kiley will be leading the team in the playoffs.
