Grey Wolf
Canis lupisThe Grey wolf is a subject of villainy in a number of stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids. However, alongside these tales portraying wolves as ruthless villains, a number of books, cartoons, and movies use wolves as protagonists and guardian angels. In the Jungle Book, Mowgli is raised by a pack of wolves until he’s ten years old. Grey wolves are large apex predators that roam North America, with colors such as brown, black, white, grey, tawny, and red. Their main source of food is prey animals, and they rarely attack humans unless provoked or rabid. Contrary to popular opinion, Grey wolves do bark, along with howling, yelping, growling, whining, and many other vocalizations. Another misconception is that wolves crave human blood, however, wolves are very afraid of humans and try to stay away from them; humans can be destructive. Unfortunately, many people believe that wolves kill for sport, which could not be further from the truth. Nothing other than my jerk of a cat kills for sport! Animals only kill when it’s needed for survival. Saying that is like someone saying that you killed a cow for fun instead of killing it for steak, it’s simply not true. As of now, the grey wolf’s population is quickly rising and they are no longer endangered, but they are still a number of misconceptions about them., We need to understand them so that we can protect these wonderful animals.
