Wednesday Should be a Regular Day
Why does late start Wednesday even exist? I don’t know if anyone else is asking this question, but I certainly am! Late start may help teachers so they can have meetings in the morning, but the students have not benefited from it.
Like I said, I may be the only one who finds a late start a problem. But there are some downsides to it. A lot of people are enthusiastic about the fact that you can sleep in, but really, you’re only getting like two hours of sleep and 7:00-7:30 is still not exactly late in the morning. But sleeping past your usual wake-up time on a school day puts me and probably some others in “weekend mode” and the last thing we want to do is get up and go to school.
Another issue with having a late start is that your schedule gets totally screwed up, and it’s hard to catch the bus for those of us who take it. Half the time, I don’t even know when the heck I’m supposed to get out of bed! In addition, it is not a good idea to fiddle with students’ sleep schedules because it’s not fun to have to get out of bed at a different time every week. It would be easier to get up at the same time in the morning all week long.
I think it would help to make everyone’s routine a little less stressful if we had a regular day on Wednesday because everyone would be getting up at the same time every day. We would not have to deal with the stressful things about late start.
I just don’t see the point of late start. Why do we even need to have it? What is the reason? And before you say “we get to sleep in!” take a look at the clock when you wake up this Wednesday and see if the time it shows really feels like sleeping in to you. Overall, there is no reason for late start to exist.
