As the weather finally warms up, there’s something to look forward to when we return from April break…and that’s prom! The upperclassmen (and their lucky underclassmen dates) will be preparing for a magical night of glitter, music, and memories made dancing in the ballroom of the Nonantum Resort. The magical theme of “Under the Lanterns” is sure to inspire warm, elegant colors, and a whimsical feel—maybe even a hint of Tangled? Who knows? Even now, many people have bought their dresses and shoes, planned out their hair, and maybe secured a date in anticipation of the big night! The oceanside venue of the Nonantum Resort is sure to enhance the evening, providing ample space for dancing, socializing, and plenty of beautiful photo backdrops.
Let’s take a look into some of the fashion trends that may very well appear on prom night. There are essentially two categories your dress may fall into based on the popular dresses seen on social media. People seem to either lean towards metallic and bejeweled silhouettes that are sleek and elegant, or a more summer-style dress complete with flowers, bright colors and ruffles. Either way, everyone always finds a way to make their look unique and personal with hair, jewelry, and accessories.
We ran some student polls on our social media page regarding prom, and here are some of the results: 73% prefer to wear sneakers under their dresses rather than heels, prioritizing comfort and more enjoyable dancing! I’m all for it. Although it was close, 56% would rather go with a romantic partner as a date than with friends. Better secure a special someone to take with you! If you run out of luck, going with friends can be just as fun (if not better). Finally, everyone’s biggest prom tips are centered around being prepared and planning ahead to make the day easier for those involved. When asked if they were excited for prom, the results were a definite yes!
