Teacher of the Week

This week’s teacher of the week is Ms. Nardone! Ms. Nardone teaches Anatomy & Physiology and Biology here at Kennebunk High School. Aside from being a great teacher in the classroom, Ms. Nardone has put in a lot of time outside of school to find new, fun ways to educate her students.

Last week, Ms. Nardone took several groups of students to Body World in Portland. At first she was just going to take her Anatomy kids, but then she thought that everyone should have the opportunity to see these exhibits, so she decided to take Ms. Luetje’s life science students as well as Mr. Battagliese’s life science students. Another reason Ms. Nardone decided to take students to Body World is because, as she stated, ¨it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. There are only three exhibits: one in Maine, Louisiana, and Texas. Once it leaves in Christmas time, I don’t know if Maine will ever get it back!¨ She highly recommends that students who did not have the opportunity to go through the school, go on for fun. Ms. Nardone received a grant from the Education Foundation so that she could take students on this trip.

Ms. Nardone has been teaching since 1977. Before teaching at KHS, she graduated from Fitchburg State University, and then she taught in Maryland, New Hampshire, and Lexington, Massachusetts. Many people do not know that her first job was actually teaching science on a docked merchant marine ship. In 1982 she finally got a job at Kennebunk High School and she has been here ever since. Now, Ms. Nardone has three daughters, her oldest is an attorney in Rhode Island, her middle child works for Oprah in Los Angeles, and her youngest is a biomedical engineer in Boston. A few fun facts about Ms. Nardone is that in her free time, she likes to going hiking, kayaking, and when everyone is together, which does not happen very often.
