Spring Activities

Fun activities to make the most out of the snow melting and the approaching warm weather.

Spring+Activities

With spring approaching, the snow is starting to melt, and we are all looking for fun ways to take advantage of the warmer weather. While it is still too cold for beach days, there are plenty of fun things to do on the weekends that are cheap and affordable. Here are some activities for the warmer weather:

1. Start a garden

Mr O’Brien suggest to “use lots of compost.” He says, “in the spring, once it’s planted I water my garden every day and that doesn’t take very long”

2. Go for a hike

There are plenty of great hiking and walking trails nearby, varying in difficulty. For example;

  • Rachel Carson, Kennebunk, ME
  • Mount Agamenticus, York, ME
  • Bridle Path, Kennebunk, ME
  • Smith Preserve, Kennebunk, ME
  • Laudholm Farm, Wells, ME
  • Kennebunk Land Trust, Kennebunk, ME

3. Go to the beach

Going for a walk on the beach is free, so grab some friends and take advantage of the beautiful place where we live. Maybe even bring a picnic.

4. Concerts

There are plenty of free or cheap concerts held in Portland and Portsmouth. Many concerts are held at the State Theater and only cost about $20 for a ticket. Check online at statetheatreportland.com for dates!

5. Support KHS Sports

Spring sports are just starting up so be sure to come support all of the teams. You can check the times and dates here: http://schedules.schedulestar.com/Kennebunk-High-School-Kennebunk-ME/month/04-22-2017/

6. Attend a Seadogs Game

Grab some friends and head over to Hadlock field to watch a game. The tickets are cheap, and the crowds will be minimal in the spring season.

7. Job Hunting

Before everyone goes out on the hunt to find a summer job, start your application process early. Stop into potential businesses and drop off your resume to secure a job before the Summer rush hits.

8. Portland Museum of Art

Head to the Old Port on a Friday afternoon from 4-8pm to get in for free! Explore all the new exhibits and take some time to check out what the Art District has to offer.
