Meet Mr. Mariello

Department: Social Studies

Classes: World History & Intro to Psychology

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Connecting with students to help them each get that light bulb moment when they understand something deeply.

What’s your teaching pet peeve? Not being able to get to the finish line when it comes to teaching.  Sometimes you have to wait till the end of a story to find out why it is amazing.

Fun Fact: Mr. Mariello has 9 children and has been a foster parent for 20 years. 

Meet Mr. Charlie (Mr. Mariello’s Service Dog)

Department: Social Studies

Classes: World History & Intro to Psychology

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Mr. Charlie loves seeing and hearing the students come in every day.

What’s your teaching pet peeve? Mr. Charlie is not a fan of empty classrooms.

Fun Fact: Mr. Charlie has been Mr. Mariello’s service dog for five years.

 

Meet Mr. French

Department: Social Studies

Classes: Modern World History

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Challenging students’ taken-for-granted understandings of the world and inspiring them to explore all of the possibilities of the human experience.

What’s your teaching pet peeve? Students not actively listening when their peers are speaking.

Fun Fact: Mr. French spent a year living in a small, rural village in Mozambique doing anthropological research..

Meet Madame Besanko

Department: Foreign Language

Classes: French 2 CP & French 4/5 CP

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Connecting with students and watching them grow not only as students but as people.

What’s your teaching pet peeve? When my tech refuses to work properly.

Fun Fact: Madame Besanko lives in a tiny house in central Maine during the summer!

Meet Ms. Virgilio

Department: Math

Classes: Algebra 1 CP, Honors Algebra 1, & Algebra II CP

What is your favorite thing about teaching? My students, they’re what make my job fun and challenging. Plus we get to do math together everyday!

What’s your teaching pet peeve? People using my personal pens.

Fun Fact: Ms. Virgilio is a direct descendant of Chief Orono of the Penobscot tribe.

Meet Mr. Johanson

Department: Math

Classes: Geometry & Algebra II

What is your favorite thing about teaching? Building connections with students and helping them to realize what they’re capable of.

What’s your teaching pet peeve? When Students don’t give themselves enough credit and convince themselves that they’re not a “math person.” No one is born with the ability to do math, but with hard work and perseverance, anyone can become a “math person.”

Fun Fact: Mr. Johanson has played semi-pro football for the last 16 years.

 

Meet Mr. Fusco

Department: Athletic 

Role: Athletic Trainer

What is your favorite thing about your job? I love that no two days are the same. Watching high school athletes compete on the field, playing the sport they love. Helping an athlete who is injured return to the field is very rewarding.

Fun Fact: Mr. Fusco has his own professional baseball card.

Meet Mrs. Morneault

Role: Administrative Assistant for the front office and keeper of attendance

What is your favorite thing about your job? I’ve been enjoying getting to know my colleagues and meeting some of the students. As a new faculty member, I feel like I learn something new every day, and that’s pretty exciting!

Fun Fact: Mrs. Morneault has been the singer in a few rock bands, and she used to sing opera!
