Favorite Holiday Traditions

Holiday season is finally here, and with it, holiday traditions continue. Students at KHS commented on some of their favorite parts of the holidays. Many look forward to the family aspect of the holiday season; they enjoy the opportunity to bond with their families, especially when they haven’t seen them for so long. One sophomore was excited to watch Love Actually with their family while decorating the Christmas tree. Another student couldn’t wait to move around the Elf on the Shelf for their sibling, loving the smile on their little face. Students also enjoy participating in activities with their families, including opening family advent calendars every day and getting a Christmas tree.

Not only are the holidays fun for the family aspect, but they are also enjoyable for the food. Many students look forward to the feast with their family and friends. One junior emphasized how they loved the stuffing and turkey their family makes on Christmas Eve. And of course, you can’t forget about eggnog and hot chocolate, favorite seasonal drinks among students at KHS.

The winter holidays also allow for snowy traditions, such as sledding and skiing. One student enjoys going to a family friend’s house and sledding while they’re there. Other students like to go on yearly ski trips to Cranmore or Sugarloaf. The snow couldn’t come soon enough!

Holiday traditions don’t need to be super complex and planned out; they can be things as simple as decorating gingerbread houses or even just watching a movie. Sometimes the simple traditions are the most heartwarming ones.
