We are a group of 5 students from Madrid, Spain. We came to Kennebunk to take a 4 week immersion program. The name of our school in Madrid is Gredos San Diego. The Spanish and French teacher Eva Hernandez organized this exchange program to set a sistership between Kennebunk schools and our school. She worked in our school for 13 years as a French teacher before coming to the USA and wanted to make this connection between the two schools.
Our names are Martín, Carla, Eva, Rodrigo Flores, and Rodrigo Díaz. We come from two different towns, Alcalá de Henares and Las Rozas. We did not know each other before we arrived at this exchange program. We miss our country; however, we love the snow and we are having a great time in Kennebunk. This is a beautiful place and people here are so nice. Life in the USA is different from life in Spain: school, weather, food, sports, habits, schedules… We are grateful because people here treat us very well, they are polite and friendly. We are learning so much about the American culture and way of life.
We’re attending classes at MSK, but we also visit the high school once a week to do some activities with the French and Spanish students. This is a great chance for all of us to get to know students from different cultures and languages. American students look happy to have us in their classes and they are very curious about our life in Europe, in Spain, and in Madrid. They asked many questions!
To conclude, we want to say that this is an amazing experience. Thank you so much. We will never forget your help and hospitality.
