“Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived” – these are the iconic first lines of the KHS 2025 fall musical SIX. Following the historical story of the six wives of English King Henry VIII, the show is a modern, pop-concert retelling of the stories that history books skipped over. The leading ladies are Catherine of Aragon (regal and fierce), Anne Boleyn (a chaos queen), Jane Seymour (sincere and passionate), Anne of Cleves (fun-loving and unbothered), Katherine Howard (smart and sarcastic), and Catherine Parr (the glue of the crew). Additional roles include the Ladies in Waiting, the members of the Royal Court, many featured dancers, and even King Henry VIII himself. SIX is a short show, running only 90 minutes, but every minute is packed with a punch of queen-worthy energy that keeps the audience fully engaged. With catchy songs, colorful lights and bejeweled costumes, SIX the Musical is sure to bring you back for multiple nights!
This show—along with a brand new director—feels as though it has opened up a new era for the KHS theater department. When auditions were held at the beginning of September, there were countless excited actors and tech members putting themselves out there, much more than in the past few years. This is partly due to the increase in advertising with posters, announcements, and slideshows containing important dates and information. Additionally, I think that having a new director in the department may encourage more people to give theater a try, knowing that she will be just as new as you are. Director Mara Dale is very excited about this production, and seems to be immediately fitting into the KHS theatre community with her warm energy and motivation to put on a great show.
With just over a month to block, choreograph and rehearse this powerful performance, Ms. Dale, Mr. Desmarais, and Mr. Wakeman have been working tirelessly with every actor, dancer, and tech member to put on a fall musical that will fill the house every night. Come and support your peers and friends as they are divorced, beheaded, LIVE November 6-9!
