I could not be more grateful to live in the current age of music because this is quite possibly the most female and queer-dominated era we have had in a long time. Women are everywhere when it comes to musical award shows, concert tours, and pop culture. These artists are all incredibly individual, and they have created their own aesthetics.
This fall alone, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Renee Rapp, Olivia Dean, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B and Doja Cat, among others, have either released new music or are planning on it. Sabrina Carpenter’s album Manchild has quickly risen to top the charts, with songs like Tears and House Tour highlighting her clever wordplay and her shift to a more mature audience. Chappell Roan’s single Subway has also become quite popular, and it might be all we get for now, as she has said that another album “could take at least five years” to complete. Additionally, Renee Rapp is feeding the queer community with her new album Bite Me, creating a name for herself beyond just the broadway stage.
Countless singers are touring at the moment as well. Tate McRae is in the middle of touring her album So Close To What, dominating the stage with her highly-trained choreography, and singing while she does it! Beyonce wrapped up what feels like her millionth tour about a month ago, turning heads with the inclusion of her 13-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, in her performances. Blue Ivy has been called “the next Beyonce” with her mature professionalism and stellar dance moves at such a young age. She certainly could be successful in her mother’s industry. Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, and many others are continuing their very successful tours, and other artists (like Ariana Grande) have mentioned possible tours in the coming year!
In other news, girl group Katseye has dominated social media after starring in an ad for Gap denim, and absolutely killing it with their confident choreography. Katseye is a six-person group that seems to be rising in popularity with their music, and their denim-clad dance has been imitated countless times on social platforms.
The 2025 Video Music Awards (VMAs) was a success, with many women topping the nominations and winning awards, including Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Doechii.
In summary, women are absolutely killing it musically. I think the best part is how individual their styles are; you will always get a different vibe with a different artist, and they are really playing into their personalities through fashion and performance. We love a female driven industry!
