College Time

Tis’ the season of fall, where all through the high school all this year’s seniors are crying. Yes, all those twelfth graders with their senioritis and spunk have realized what comes next and have settled into a funk. Oh, tis college time in Kennebunk with all of its ambience, the summaries, the essays, and you can’t forget Naviance. It’s a time of dread for many a student, some sulk and some are okay, they all are being prudent. Alas this is where we get little sleep, and little free time, but that is something we just have to accept. We can’t give up everything and mope. We have to continue to hope, and as for those late nights, we just have to cope.

But every school is different. Some want the common app and some don’t. We can’t be flippant. Some require a high SAT score. It’s would seem that they could not possibly ask for more, I am sure. All these numbers are a bore. Some colleges asked for portfolio, a sample of your talent. This can be a chance to show that you were valiant. That you have the determination to share your skill, and that you think you are a special as a two dollar bill.

In this day and age, a student cannot apply without planning. He will feel trapped in a cage and become filled with much rage. We must all stay patient. We need to remember the guidance counselors are there for us, so please don’t get into such a fuss. Start off with a strategy, a plan of action and then we will see. The key is to relax. When the work is done for the day hit the sacks. Remember to say please and thank you and I am sure every senior will make it through.
